How to change a diaper for adult?
Step 1: Prepare Supplies
Gather all necessary items and place them within easy reach by the bedside: a clean waterproof adult diaper, a warm damp cloth (or soft tissues), a soft basin (filled with warm water), a disposable incontinence pad, a trash bag, and any change of clothes needed.
Step 2: Position the Elderly
Assist the elderly person to turn onto their side, facing away from you, with knees slightly bent for stability.
Quickly place the incontinence pad underneath them to prevent soiling the bedsheet during the change.
Step 3: Gentle Cleansing
Gently unfasten the soiled diaper.
Using a warm damp cloth (or baby wipes), carefully clean from front to back. This direction is crucial for preventing infections.
For skin folds, gently spread and clean them. Use a soft dry cloth to pat the skin dry, keeping it dry to help prevent rashes.
Step 4: Fresh Diaper Placement
Place the clean adult diapers underwear flat underneath them, with the waistband (tabs) facing toward the waist.
Assist the elderly person to lie back down comfortably. Pull the front part of the diaper up through their legs to the abdomen.
Adjust the snugness by the adult diapers tabs—it should be comfortable enough to fit one or two fingers easily. Too tight can cause skin damage, too loose can lead to leaks.
Final Step: Post-Change Care
Adjust the elderly person's clothing, cover them with a blanket, and ensure they are in a comfortable and safe position.
